Updates

I am now back to my latest print. The third color is the blue sky background, and it involved a lot of cutting away of the block that would remain green. I encountered a little bit of a problem producing the actual color necessary for the sky because the color on the screen was much richer than anything I could produce in pigment.

Stuff I've been up to: integrating the rest of the stuff I do online, especially blogging, by learning more APIs; adding my version of that javascript triangle peg game that I built many moons ago; and coming up with useful browser-based apps.

Today I printed the second color of my latest reduction linocut. Here are images of the ink, the plate, and the print with the first two colors.

Years ago when I still had some extra battleship gray linoleum lying around from school studio days, I carved several blocks never printed them because I didn't have a big enough press. It was really nice to finally see these prints in black and white and not just cut into the linoleum.

To take a break from the animal card prints, I decided to start a new reduction print this week. Here's a description of the start of the process, color choice, and images of the block, the ink, and the first color printed.

I recently undertook a new project with the purpose to generate a lot of work (well, basically prints). I asked my friends on Facebook to post photos of their pets and I would use some of them to create sets of greeting cards. Who doesn't love an animal on a greeting card?
